May 20 2016
On Tuesday night, many celebs and enthusiasts gathered in at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City for the Gordon Parks Foundation 10th Anniversary Awards Dinner and Auction. The Gordon Parks foundation honors and preserves the work of Gordon Parks, the gifted photojournalist, musician, writer and filmmaker.
The event, which celebrated the arts, boasted honorees in a variety of fields. Maxwell Osborne and Dao-Yi Chow received recognition for their brand Public School.
The dinner also paid tribute to photographer LaToya Ruby Frazier. The always glam Janelle Monáe was honored, along with Bryan Stevenson, founder of the Equal Justice Initiative.
Twenty-one scholarships for students in the arts were awarded, but Swizz Beatz, Usher, Daniel Arsham and Victor Cruz together donated funds for 30 more during an auction. Cocktails and a red carpet were followed by a sit-down dinner and performance by Jon Batiste and Stay Human.
